Authentic Turkish Cuisine at The Mediterranean Grill
If you thought Turkish food was all about fast-food Kebabs in Paquis, then you havn't tried real Turkish food in a real Turkish restaurant.
The Mediterranean Grill is a new restaurant in Plainpalais specializing in Authentic Turkish dishes, served in a welcoming & relaxed atmosphere. It's very far from a fast-food place; it's beautiful setting and dishes make it perfect for dinner with friends or for a romantic soirée. Only open a month, but so far receiving great reviews in the press and online, this Turkish gem is the real deal and definitely worth a try.
What's Special About Turkish Cuisine?
Turkish cuisine is extremely varied with each region contributing it's own special dishes and recipes. The cuisine is known for its diverse flavors & spices, its grilled meats and its creative use of yogurts in sauces. Eggplants, peppers, tomatoes & lentils are widely used, and a typical Turkish meal will usually include several mezzes (small dishes shared), a main dish of lamb, chicken or beef grilled over an open flame, and home made pastries which are used to soak up the sauces and mezes. When done right, Turkish cuisine is one of the tastiest cuisines out there.
Excellent Menu, Reasonable Prices
The menu is diverse, and the prices are very reasonable. Most mezzes cost CHF 9, and main courses cost CHF 25 - CHF 30. Some example dishes we think you'll enjoy include:
